INMATE HANDBOOK

VISITATION

Video visits on site may be conducted and scheduled during the following times.

Monday and Friday 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Saturday and Sunday 8:30am to 11:00am, 1:30pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

VISITORS MUST BE REGISTERED IN FOR VISITATION AT LEAST FIFTEEN

(15) MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED VISITATION TIME.

NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

A. Visiting is subject to the following rules and any other posted rules:

  1. Visitors must be at least eighteen (18) years old. If under eighteen (18) he/she must be accompanied by his/her parent(s) or legal guardian and must provide documentation such as a birth certificate for proof of guardianship. If guardianship is in question, you must see the Jail Administrator M-F 8:00am-4:00pm
  2. Visitors must have a photo identification with them from a State, Federal, or Foreign Government Agency.
  3. Visitors must register at the visitation counter no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled visit.
  4. Any item brought to jail for an inmate must be turned over to the Deputy on duty.
  5. No food, drinks, or smoking will be permitted in the visiting area, or in the lobby.
  6. Personal, professional and non-professional visitors will be subjected to a pat-search prior to any contact visits. Charges will be filed for any attempt to smuggle or introduce contraband into this facility.
  7. You will be subject to a search before and after any contact visit.
  8. . Any disruptive behavior including intoxication, use of profanity, or failure to comply with a staff member’s instructions by either the inmate or the visitor will be cause for terminating the visiting session and/or restriction on future visitation.
  9. Visitors will not be allowed into any other area of the jail.
  10. Visitation is on a first come first serve basis. Only seven (7) visitors are allowed in the visitation area per session. If visitation is full, you will be required to wait or return for the inmates next scheduled visitation period.
  11. Visitors must be registered for visitation at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled visitation time. The visitor must remain in the lobby area once signed in.
  12. Visitors must be properly dressed. Shirt and shoes are mandatory.
  13. . No halter tops, No swimsuits, No short shorts.
  14. Clothing that exposes an undue amount of flesh (i.e. exposing chest, back, breast, thighs, or midsections) is prohibited.
  1. Bermuda-length shorts will be allowed provided they are NOT to exceed more than three (3″) inches above the knee cap.
  2. Any article of clothing with a picture or language that may be considered profane or offensive by the current public or the Madison County Jail Staff will NOT be allowed.
  3. Clothing designed or intended to be tightly worn, to excessively accent the body (i.e. spandex tights, leggings, tank tops, etc.) is prohibited.
  4. Improper attire will be at the discretion of the Madison County Jail Staff

Visitors may wear casual dress that is reasonable and appropriate.

Madison County Jail reserves the right to refuse admittance to inappropriately dressed visitors.

  • Inmates are required to wear shoes, pants, shirt, or jumpsuit to visitation.
  • All children who are under the age of fifteen (15) must be supervised by an adult. Children are expected to sit in the lobby. Any disruptive behavior such as running in and out of the restroom, banging on windows and counters etc. will result in termination of the visitation session and/or restrictions on future visitation. The person providing the supervision must be of a responsible age to care for those children at least thirteen (13) years of age.
  • Children who accompany an adult in the visitation room must stay in the visitation room until the visit is over. Children are not allowed to run in and out of the visitation room.
  • Children who are disrupting other visitors will cause that visit to be terminated.
  • Taking food or drinks into the visitation room may cause the visit to be terminated.
  • Any offensive language used in the lobby may result in that individual being restricted from visiting for a period of time.
  • No personal items are allowed in the visitation area.
  • Cameras, recording devices or CELL PHONES are prohibited.
  • Special visits outside of the routine visiting hours may be allowed in cases of hardship (i.e. death in the family, or if the visitor must travel more than one hundred fifty (150) miles. Special visiting hours must be approved by either the shift supervisor or the Administrator prior to the visit an Inmate Request Form must be submitted twenty-four (24) hours in advance to be considered for a special visit. You must have no disciplinary write-ups in the past thirty (30) days. You may only receive one (1) Special Visit every thirty (30) days. If approved, the visit will be scheduled by the Administrator or the Supervisor. These visits will be held Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visits will be½ hour long. MUST BE IMMEDIATE FAMILY!!!
  • Professional visitors (clergy, counselors etc.) may visit between 8:00am and 4:45pm Monday thru Friday. No one will be allowed to visit during meal times 11;45am – 12:30pm.

Attorneys will be allowed to visit during any reasonable hours. Attorney visits during lockdown must be approved by the Jail Administrator or the Shift Supervisor.

  • Any clothing brought in at visitation or mailed in is subject to laundering before the inmate is allowed to receive the item.

Each Inmate is permitted four (04), thirty (30) minute visits per week.
